Can you give an example of your problem? What mode e.g. QUERY, NQUERY, 
ITEMQUERY, FEATUREQUERY? Do you have a QLAYER set? Pretty hard to say 
what's wrong w/o some specifics.

Try using TOLERANCE and TOLERANCEUNITS 
[pixels|feet|inches|kilometers|meters|miles|dd]
in the layer object.
