ECW full color ?

You should use IMAGEMODE RGBA in your OUTPUTFORMAT.

e.g.

  OUTPUTFORMAT
    NAME png
    MIMETYPE image/png
    DRIVER GD/PNG
    EXTENSION png
    IMAGEMODE RGBA
    TRANSPARENT TRUE
  END
