So, if I see this right, your solution was to bundle regex into
mapserver as well.
What was the symptom you discovered?

I created a patch that made mapscript compile accordingly against
php4-bundled-regex, but I'm getting SEGV's at the moment. So I still
cannot prove, that I made something useful. :-|

Anthony, are you at the dev-list as well (I'm not approved yet)?
