changing case in labelitem

Hi,
  In my data source of populated areas, the names are in all capital letters, and I don't want to
modify the data. I would like to output them as first letter capital and the rest lowercase.  Is
this possible with Mapserver 4.2.3, or newer? If so, then provide an example, please :-)
