PostGIS vs. MySQL spatial in MapServer

That is the cool thing about OpenSource.  If you really need this capability right now, you could fund the development of this feature and the results would benefit you and the rest of the community.

If you're asking about the new spatial capabilities in
MySQL 4.1 -- They are not yet supported at all by any
of MapServer's components. I asked about the status of
that a few months back, and it wasn't even on the
horizon.
