WMS, proxy server

OK, so got serveral WMS to work.  PROBLEM: have application that accesses
these WMS does not show layers, just red X symbolizing no image.

Using Apache Web Server and PHP/Mapscript.  I noticed a few threads that
indicated that I need to set a proxy server through Apache httpd.conf
file.  I tried this but failed.

Can anyone step me through the process of getting the WMS to be used
within another application.  Thanks....Rob
