Dynamiv layers list

I have installed Mapserver 4.4.0 on Fedora Core3.
Because of  the layers of my webgis are visible at different scales, I
would like to have a dynamic "Layers List" (with layers in the list only
when they are really visible) instead of  the non-dinamic list I  have
got using  MapLab.
Can you help me?
