joining shp dbf

hello i get probelm joining shp dbf. old answer not working

c:/pradesh/state.shp
num name
1   andhra
2   kerala

c:/pradesh/pop.dbf
num name   count  year
1   andhra 35     1991
2   andhra 45     2001

i try showing 45 on state.shp as following
