get colors from database

Hi,
please help me with the following problem.
I have a polygon layer containing hundreds of features. I would like to draw
ech feature with a different color like you can do in ArcGIS using the
classification symbolization.
Now, I could add the colors to the dbf file in a seperate row or in a
different file and join it to my layer. But how can I change the layer style
COLOR to use these stored colors? 
Is this possible with MapServer?
