MapScript SetSymbolSet

Hi -

I'm having a problem in my c# MapScript application.  Occasionally when
I call 

Map.setSymbolSet(@"C:\absolute\symbol\path.sym");

I get an error parsing the symbol file at line 0 (SYMBOLSET).

 

Is mapscript locking the symbol file?  Has anyone else seen this
problem?
