Jaisen,

It would help to know what version of mapserver you are now running and 
what you were running before?

You should also try something like:

shp2img -m /path/to/your/mapfile.map -o junk.png

and see if it reports any errors.

Recent versions of mapserver have had a change for security purposes 
which now require most mapserver support files to have well know tags as 
the first line(s) of the support file.
