<tileset name="buildings">
 <cache>mycache</cache>
</tileset>
<tileset name="imagery">
 <cache>mycache</cache>
</tileset>

=> BOOM :) both tilesets are reading/writing to the same tiles whereas they
clearly shouldn't be. If you know they should be reading/writing the same
set of tiles you're fine
