Hi all.
GFOSS.it, Italian OSGeo chapter, participated to ASITA,
http://www.asita.it/, the main GIS event in Italy (over 1k
participants). We had a stand and a special "open source" session, both
crowded.
The event was a notable success: we distributed hundreds of flyers, were
contacted by several regional and local authorities, plus universities
and professionals.
The general feeling was that freeGIS was finally brought into light,
being felt as an "official" thing, and no longer an amateur/purely
academic sector.
More remains to be done, especially organizing presentation and
information material (we have a limited number of flyers transaled in
Italian), but the path is marked, IMHO.
