Thanks, Jody.

I definitely support creating standards that will help people who aren’t already very familiar with OSGeo find there way to the right people, groups, and discussions.

Sorry Scott I sent this as an email, my address book was not correct for marketing committee.

I created the discourse topic also.

Hi Scott,

High level the proposal is to set it up in a consistent fashion. I only today learned that it was not setup with any kind of plan - just been adopting the same names as the user lists that were being imported.

The result would end up pretty random ( fr-qgis vs user vs user-es vs geonetwork-user-es) . I believe that providing some consistency now (as 5-10 email lists are added) we can make it more sane.

SAC really just wants to run the software and leave it up to the community to decide.

I think we are the only crew in position to speak up about user experience.

(And thus we can see how OSGeo signup became so difficult)

I’m honestly so noob on discourse (nothing makes me feel older than all these new communication channels) that I’m really just not in a position to contribute on this one.

Quick proposal:

1.	Projects are starting to migrate to discourse: propose a consistent UX experience for forum participants.

Please respond ahead of the marketing meeting this Friday.

Here is the proposed setup:

1.	https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/3278

The system admin committee does not feel equipped to comment on UX experience, and asks for a proposal from the marketing committee. I have written the above after learning about discourse, and trying to determine what is the least bother.

While the motion held open for 2 weeks, new projects are being setup now, so effective feedback needs to be in ahead of Friday meet.

1.	Peter Batty
2.	Nicolas Bozon
3.	Astrid Emde
4.	Jody Garnett +1 initial motion
5.	Peter Mooney
6.	Laura Mugeha
7.	Enock Seth Nyamador
8.	Adam Steer
9.	Guido Stein

Community support:

1.	speak up!
