[MDAL-Developer] mdal and QGIS

A general question - is there an easy way to update QGIS to a new/custom
build of mdal? I want to test something that is not released yet.

I thought it might be easy as replacing mdal.dll || dylib || so - but
unlike pdal etc there is no mdal.dll etc in the QGIS distribution.
