Hi Simon, thanks for chiming in, glad for the opportunity to talk about
what's planned, this is why I love to have stuff on an open list :)
*> 1. What numbers do you predict will register?*It's pretty hard to
say, but we had 83 in 2020 and 101 in 2021, and I feel that awareness of
open geospatial has grown strongly in WA since then, so we have a good
chance of a strong turnout. But the price is a little higher than last time
and it's not in the CBD, so these may work against us. Hopefully in the
range of ~100, maybe up to 150 if we really smash it. ISPRS is handling
registration so our income & expenses aren't directly impacted by rego
numbers.
*> 2. How many registrations does "ISPRS conf rego for hard core
volunteers" cover?*Rego is $100 each (this is handled by ISPRS), so 8
people in the middle scenario. We have a pretty big organising crew but
based on previous years, we're guessing that some of them will have their
rego covered by someone else. Also some might not have heaps of spare time
so we'd have to prioritise the people who pour time & energy into the thing
(the "hard cores"). Ideally we would have enough budget to pay for every
one of our committee but it feels like a big ask.
*> 3. How many registrations does "ISPRS conf rego to support
regional WA attendance" cover?*6 in the middle scenario. The idea here is
to cover the cost of rego for some people who are travelling from other
parts of WA, to encourage their attendance. It would be based on
need, similar to past TGPs (ie. "for people who might otherwise find it
difficult to attend").
*> 4. Is normal registration for FOSS4G Perth day included in the
Early/Standard/Late registration fees for ISPRS?*Yes, ISPRS delegates are
free to join the FOSS4G Perth day and FOSS4G Perth registrants are free to
attend all parts of ISPRS on that day. The FOSS4G Perth rego is a one day
registration.
*> 5. Am I correct that ISPRS pays for venue?*Yes.
*> 6. Under other expenses there is domain rego, wouldn't we just use
a subdomain under our existing foss4g-oceania.org
<http://foss4g-oceania.org> domain?*
We have an existing web presence at https://foss4g-perth.org, this has been
perfect for us. The cost of domain registration is pretty low, something
like $15 a year.
Cheers!
