Thank you very much for the nomination. I'm happy to accept. About me:
I fell in love with FOSS4G back in 2002 when I was at the University
of Melbourne studying Geomatic Engineering/Computer Science. I have
since attended FOSS4G 05 and 06. Inspired by those I ran a FOSS4G
Tutorial at the 2006 Open Source Developers Conference.
Professionally I have worked in the High Performance Computing
Industry, Ocean Mapping and on a number of Neogeography projects.
Currently I work as a Data Manager at Geoscience Australia (GA) where
I am on the GeoNetwork Technical Committee, looking at ways to make
Australian Geospatial Data more accessible. I also serve on GA's Data
Managers Committee. This year I am giving a tutorial on Spatial
Analysis on the GeoWeb using Ruby on Rails at the Where2.0 conference
in San Fransisco. I maintain 2 open source projects: GeoRuby
(implementation of OGC Simple Features for SQL in Ruby) and YM4R (Ruby
wrappers for adding maps to Rails/Ruby web applications).
cheers
