I am also interested in this area in my capacity as a coordinator at Mapping & Planning Support (MAPS).

You may also be interested in the talk I recently gave at GA on OSM and mapping of Haiti and the broader SDI lessons to be learned. Slides at: http://db.tt/mw1cLJ (Warning 45MB of PDF over 100 slides)

I'll put the audio online this weekend

Cheers

If so I'd be interested in somethign exploring the relationship
between SDI and OSM/crowd-sourcing in general - how they can help each
other. I'm in contact with a UN led team who have been doing some
great work using OSM in disaster relief, and thinking about how the
infrastructure could be used to maximise the efficiency and value of
such responses.

In a way, ironically, this might be relevant to the military
situation, where there is a need for rapid situation analysis from the
field.
