Hi Simon,
I won't be able to attend this event.
Out of interest, why the need for another group looking at these issues?
Perhaps this could have been done under the OSGeo banner.

Hi All,
The Melbourne Open GIS Group will hold its first gathering on 4pm this
Friday, the 11th of June, at the OpenHub, Level 2, 140 Queen Street,
Melbourne.
The group will focus on discussing geospatial software that promotes
an 'open platform' approach to GIS. The OpenGeo Suite is kicking
major goals in this area at the moment and will receive a lot of
attention at our first meeting.
You are invited to come and hang out with like-minded people for an
hour, participate in informal discussions, bring something to show if
you want, ask questions, and stick around afterwards for some drinks.
All are welcome, RSVP to Simon O'Keefe <simon.okeefe at groundtruth.com.au>
What is the OpenGeo Suite: http://opengeo.org/products/suite/
What is the OpenHub: http://www.openhub.com.au/welcome/details
Cheers,
Simon
