[OSGeo Oceania] Elephant in the room thread

Greetings and wishing you all the best for 2025.
   I would like to thank Andrew Jeffrey for penning his important Elephant
in the room thread - (see
https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/oceania/2024-November/002926.html ) and
everyone who responded with their valuable and respectful responses and
clearly this is an important issue for a  members.

As Alex Leith noted, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) manages the
conference and the Board provides guidance and monitors progress.

The board will discuss this thread at our first meeting for 2025 this
Friday (17th Jan) which will involve actions post the meeting and the Board
will keep you posted on progress through the next few months.

The Board is excited that OSGeo Oceania is hosting the global conference in
Auckland in November and we hope that we see as many of you there as
possible.
