Subject: [Board] Call for vote the OpenGeoscience townhall & award at OGRS2018

Dear Open Geosescience committe members
(https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Open_Geoscience_Committee#Members)

in view of the OpenGeoscience committee mandate and objective of interfacing the OSGeo communities and other geoscience organisations, I would like to propose to allocate 1300 USD as part of Open_Geoscience_Committee/budget_2018<https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Open_Geoscience_Committee/budget_2018> to connect with OGRS community at OGRS 2018 symposium by means of organizing an OSGeo Townhall (networking event [1]) , as follow:

Budget
Venue rental cost: none
Catering cost: 700 USD
Promotional material: 100 USD (Posters/flyers promoting OSGeo)
OpenGeoscience Award: 500 USD (see https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OSGeo_OpenGeoscience_Award_2018)

Proposed budget allocatin is:
- 800 USD from the not used budget for EGU townhall (used 1,400 USD out of 2,600 USD)
- 500 USD for award from unforenseen costs

Expected Audience Size
50 - 80 people (guesstimate from 2016 attendance OGRS numbers)

Organizing team (Draft, add your name!)
Massimiliano Cannata, Ivan Marchesini (tbc)

Support by OSGeo
Finacial support
Use of Logos
Volunteers: Preparation phase, event hosting, presentations during the event (-> OpenGeoScience Committee).

Audience
Doctorate Students, PostDocs, Researchers, Activists, Leaders, Visionaries, Decision Makers, Funding Agencies

[1] Townhalls are hosted in the evening following the conclusion of all scientific tracks. The events last one hour and usually have presentations / announcements taking up the first 20 minutes, to allow for an open discussion among the attendees. During this phase, refreshments are provided to ensure a lively and convivial atmosphere.

Best regards,
Maxi
