[OpenLayers-Dev] write custom tiling server

Greetings all,

Has anyone up to this point took the task of writing a custom tiling server?

I would like to have the openlayers functionality to play with the images
that i get back from my tile server.

My idea is to make the controll talk to may backend image server and request
images for a particula location.

Any pointers on this path?
