Okay, I misunderstood something then. I apologize for my mistaken
comments. Given that, there is no reason that these changes can't be
integrated into OpenLayers; they are BSD licensed, and can be integrated
in the same way as any other BSD licensed code. Someone just needs to
file a ticket with the proposed changes.
