[OpenLayers-Dev] Aplying offset on WMS Layer's tiles

Hi,
This doesn't really answer your question, but it might help!

You could always use semi-transparent layers.
e.g. http://sautter.com/map/

Or use two openlayers maps side-by-side
e.g. http://tools.geofabrik.de/mc/
