[OpenLayers-Dev] GML-like SRS labels of a WMS layer

Dear list,

I would like to understand how OpenLayers works now when reading the SRS of
a WMS layer.
Is there a plan to support GML-like SRS definitions, eg.
http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/4326 ?

In case, how would they be decoded?
