[OpenLayers-Dev] UTFGrid support for WMS

Hi,
I have just committed a pull request for OpenLayers 2, to clean up the work
done on https://github.com/openlayers/openlayers/pull/1076

The new pull request is https://github.com/openlayers/ol2/pull/1486

We recently implemented UTFGrid support in GeoServer for both WMS and WMTS,
so we wanted an OpenLayers 2 client able to use it. The pull request
includes an example "pointing" to an online GeoServer instance with the
above support enabled.

Is there any chance that this work can be included in a future ol2 release.
Is there any plan to have ol2 new releases at all?
