 Thanks @chrismayer for this great patch. The implementation of Douglas-
 Peucker looks solid. Do you think you can modify your patch so this
 becomes part of OpenLayers.Geometry.LineString instead of OpenLayers.Util?
 I think {{{simplify}}} would make a nice name for this method.
