Comment:

 I agree with strk that we need to keep backwards compatibility in reading
 GEOMETRYCOLLECTION.  To make it clear what currently happens, see r10972.

 I think it makes sense to add an option to return either a single feature
 with an OpenLayers.Geometry.Collection geometry or an array of features.
 The default should be an array of features.
