 Checking for IS_GECKO, we do several expensive workarounds across the lib,
 which are only required for browsers that use the Gecko engine. But
 IS_GECKO is also true for WebKit based browsers.

 Examples still work and tests still pass in Safari 5, which is one of the
 affected browsers.
