 Hi,

 this is not a bug. It is because browsers handle combinations of HTTP
 status codes and returned content for
 images differently. Other than with XHR requests, we cannot apply
 different behavior for different
 status codes. So your best bet is to change the css to make failed tiles
 transparent instead of pink, or make
 sure that your layers are configured with a correct maxExtent.
