Comment:

 We should not remove this layer object from our code: that would cause
 people's JS to break. Instead, we should replace it with a layer that
 displays some message to users about Yahoo being gone -- but since it's
 not gone *yet*, I don't feel we need to do that this minute. (We should
 send emails out to mailing lists, however.)
