 @sbrunner: Can you please test
 [attachment:openlayers-3419-reopened.patch]? My investigations showed that
 sometimes the onImageLoad handler was called twice in Firefox, and the
 change I made just removes the listener as soon as onImageLoad is called
 to avoid this. Please review and report if the patch fixes your issue.
