Comment:

 I don't think that we're going to put this in. I believe that this same
 thing can be done with vector layers, and since we have been encouraging
 people to move on from markers, I don't think we should plan to do more
 work around them.

 (I realize that this is a pretty silly/useless comment 2 years later, but
 such is the way in open source sometimes.)
