 The suspicion is that polygon definition in the filter may need an SRS
 name. (WFS filter calls include the SRS in the polygon definition and the
 WFS filter works).

 Step to reproduce:
 Take the SLDSelect example code from
 Change map options to projection 900913, maxExtent to google extent
 transform the centre lat/long to 900913 too.
 Add a google layer and remove allOverlays from map options.

 Attached is a version of the code, but the script location have been
 changed to work with my server.
