 Got confirmation from ahocevar that the patch is working *correctly*, the
 map center needs to be on the same side of the dateline as the geometry.
 I'll add these notes to the example. The other issue is a different issue
 for which a new ticket is to be opened (and is also an issue for grid
 layers not only for vector layers as mentioned by ahocevar).
