 I confirm this. See the example on my site
 http://w8r.name/files/wmg3/google-v3.html. It uses third-party png tiles
 over google maps and looks awful when dragging, worsening from Chrome to
 IE respectively. I understand this is not your priority and this is very
 unlikely that you'll be able to speed this up, because it looks like a
 non-blocking calculation delay, not a lag per se. but once google maps
 team did you a favor by switching animation in setCenter, so probably you
 can make them look into this issue? The problem clearly lies in their
 code.
