 Actually, using the google-v3.html example provided in this ticket, I can
 easily reproduce the bug with !OpenLayers 2.11, but I'm not able to
 reproduce it with !OpenLayers 2.12.

 milosh, have you actually tried 2.12-rc3 ? You can use
 http://openlayers.org/api/2.12-rc3/OpenLayers.js for testing.
