Contact Microsoft and tell them to fix their API. MetaCarta has done so
in the past; no effect yet.

The problem is that the developers API fails to load in Safari due to
syntax errors. I believe that the maps fail on local.live.com
intermittently as well.

(In other words, this isn't an OpenLayers problem -- it's universally 
true of the VE API.)
