[OpenLayers-Users] OpenLayers.loadURL returns an error if the page to be loaded requires authentication

No, the page is on the same server but protected using windows
authentication system.

Are you using a ProxyHost? the proxy.cgi that OpenLayers ships with
doesn't do anything smart with auth.
