[OpenLayers-Users] Optimising KML Vector Layer

I've got a vector layer in a OL + Virtual Earth setup that's pulling some
2,300 points from a KML file.  Works great and I've got a cluster strategy
in place to improve performance and tidy thinsg up a bit.

It's still a bit sluggish however and I'm wondering if there is any way I
can speed things up.  Maybe for that number of points a KML vector cluster
isn't ideal?  I'm wondering is a marker layer approach a better idea?

Very novice at OL so anyone who could throw a few suggestion, maybe from
past experience that would be great!
