[OpenLayers-Users] Newbie questions about loadURL

I'm trying to find some documentation on loadURL and can't seem to. Can
anyone point me to a good location to find out more about the settings for
it? For instance, I have an example that has INFO_FORMAT set to
'text/html'. What other settings are there? Can I get straight text
without the html formatting? What do I set it to if I want to use XML?

I also don't understand the REQUEST and EXCEPTIONS parameters. Some
general documentation would be great, but in absence of that, some
guidance would be helpful.
