[OpenLayers-Users] Using OpenLayers for a non-GIS application

Hello,

I'm working on an application that actually isn't based on GIS data at all,
and it uses a flat-plane representation with ordinary cartesian XY
coordinates rather than lon/lat.

Is support for that kind of map built into OpenLayers? If not, what do you
think would  be the best way to approach the problem?

I've looked through all the examples here:

http://openlayers.com/dev/examples/

And I didn't find anything that looked like it'd directly address my issues.
