[OpenLayers-Users] Openlayers and moving objects

Hi all,

If wanting to display a good number of moving objects (mostly cars) on
the map, what are my options?

I haven't done much research yet so bear with me, but is there a
proven way of doing this? Maybe even a standard way/format so that the
objects could be displayed on say Google Earth as well as on an
Openlayers map?

I have briefly looked at GeoRSS, but that would probably involve
client side polling and updating all the objects, not only those on
the move at any given time.
