[OpenLayers-Users] IE 8 vectors - dumb question

After reading the recent threads regarding vector layer rendering
problems in IE 8, I expected to see problems with the distance and
area measuring tools, but I don't (no complaint here!) The measure
tools are rendered on a vector layer, no? Is this vector layer any
different than other vector layers? I'm just trying to further my
understanding of OL.
