[OpenLayers-Users] limiting display of the large dataset for selected feature

Dear All,
We have stations stored as points in PostGIS database.
Each station has measured data for several years in nonspatial Postgres
table.
We would like to create a page where the user could do following:
1) select a station on the map,
2) depending on selected station display combobox with years when
   measurements for this station are available,
3) choose the year of the interest in the combobox,
4) display measurement data for the selected year.

Is it possible to achieve it adopting OpenLayers script only? If so how?

Any help would be highly appreciated
