[OpenLayers-Users] Maximum number of markers

Hi,

I read FAQ about recommended maxium number of markers (http://trac.openlayers.org/wiki/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#Markers).

This number could be increased in Openlayers 2.9 RC1?
And somebody knows what is the recommended number of markers in Microsoft browsers, IE7 and IE8 and another browsers (Opera, Safari)?
