[OpenLayers-Users] modifying and saving feature's attribute data

I have displayed a vector Layer (polygon shapefile) over Google map. Now, i
want to modify and save the attribute data of polygon features, is it
possible ?
On clicking on any polygon feature, i have displayed its attribute data in
Grid control and want to make changes in some of its field values.  After
changing some of the field values, my requirement is, the changes should be
made to the original shapefile's features, How this can be done ?

any code example or useful link explaining above requirements will be very
useful for me.
