I gather from that code, the you want the images to be side by side? The 
trick then is what logic do you have for dividing the world space 
between the two images? On the other hand, if your images can be 
georeferenced and what you really have is a  mosaic, then perhaps you 
should be looking at serving the images via geoserver with imagemosaic 
addin.
