[OpenLayers-Users] TransformFeature :deselect an item?

 Is there a way to use TransformFeature to deselect an item? I only see a set
no un-set.

if not how do we deselect a OpenLayers.Control.TransformFeature ? Is there a
way to make it unselect be clicking else where on the map, or click the same
item again?

neither of these 2 work

modHandle.setFeature(null);

modHandle.deactivate();  modHandle.activate();

any ideas?
