[OpenLayers-Users] Get the length of a line string

Hello!

Is getting all vertices (getVertices) of a LineString and using their 
distanceTo method and summing all the distances together would be the 
right way to calculate the length of a line string? If yes, why isn't it 
a standard function of LineString (it seems to me that it should be, and 
also Google maps API has such).
